Like a scavenger
The waif loiters for his inner man
He imagines asphyxiation
In the ineffaceable wrath of his birth
Deprived of the right to amortize his debt
He is sentenced with the gavel
In the parsimonious reign of the rich
And left as friable in the land of no justice
At the nadir of his life
He is pessimistic about the dawn
As he is subjected to an invincible state
And in his amnesia
His mind projects on shunting the stile
That has obstructed his life
As he walks within the parterre
He is petrified and malleable for a lack of choice
As he curses the ineffaceable wrath of his birth
Having lived a pantophagist and dipsomaniac
An epicure of the effluent garbage
As conscripted by his sentence
He clutches unto the palisade as his head spins
Having pledged euthanasia without a remedy
The poor mendicant with no zeal to thrive
His plea is actualized as the big head falls at dusk
He is covered in the winding sheet
And conveyed on a bier
As the bird of the night hoots his requiem of no legacy
Not eligible for a crypt, the catacombs or the mausoleum
No prognosis of passage
No epitaph for his tomb
In the direction of the no man’s land
The two-man convoy moves
With the waif on a bier
The rite of passage read
For another lost soul
Merely another putrefying carrion
In the Potter’s field.
