Work is now in progress on a new architectural and landscaping masterplan which will guide future infrastructural developments at Government Secondary School Owerri.
The masterplan is understood to have been initiated and financed by an Old Boy of the school who wishes to remain anonymous.
It involves a team of experts (architects, surveyors and town planners) who have been mobilized and are currently on ground at the school to carry out the task.
The Renaissance correspondent in the Southeast observed the team at work over the weekend and spoke with the site team lead who also pleaded anonymity but confirmed that work is going on smoothly.
“We have been on site for a few days now and have received excellent cooperation from the school administrator and his team. You can see our men on ground and our drones up in the air,” he said.
“At the end of the exercise, the entire school premises covering an estimated 32 hectares, is expected to be captured in digital format, showing boundaries, existing buildings and facilities as well as road networks.”
“Going forward, our team is expected to deliver a 3D digital terrain model (DTM) as well as a detailed topographical map which will be a reference material for any future physical or infrastructural development. This is in line with global best practice,” he added.
The Renaissance understands that the architectural and topographical masterplan is an integral part of a greater masterplan to turn OGSS into a model institution in partnership with the Imo State government.
